Strike Support Needed!!!
The Air Engineering Metal Trades Council composed of Metal Trades members of the UA, IBEW, LIUNA, IBB, IWINT, SMART, IUPAT, IBT, IUOE and the IAMAW went on STRIKE Friday July 2 at 1p. Here is the link in the Tullahoma newspaper detailing the NLB issues at stake. President Eric Coons Business Manager with UA Local 572 and the Nashville Building and Construction Trades provided the following update…”Strikers are maintaining a 24 hour picket line at Gate #2 of the Arnold Airforce Base. Strike support is appreciated and supporters are asked to park at Tullahoma Space Institute and shuttled to strike like because of limited parking at strike like. Organizing to maximize support present on Tuesday 7/6 from 6a to 8a is underway. If you can go at that time, please let us know and perhaps a caravan can be organized from Nashville. HOW TO REGISTER PARTICIPANTS?
Beginning on Wednesday, July 7th at 12pm Eastern you can register your organizing teams at www.AFLCIO.org/OI. Union members and staff organizers cannot sponsor themselves (must be approved from their local union officer or direct supervisor).
Once participants are registered and approved, they will receive a Zoom link and participant training packet prior to the training. Registration is not complete until the participant registers through the Zoom link provided in the email.
HOW MUCH TO SPONSOR A PARTICIPANT? WHAT IS THE CRITERIA TO ATTEND?
There is no cost for participants. Participants must be approved by their local union elected officer or from a direct supervisor. For unions who look to send 3 or more participants, we request a Teaching Fellow from the local or national union. Participants must also be able to ‘attend’ the entire training to be accepted, to receive an OI Certificate of Completion and for the sponsoring union to receive an observation after the training is completed.
Once participants have been approved by their elected officers and/or supervisors, a training guide with an agenda and training materials will be sent to the email address on file at least 10 days prior to the training.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE TRAINING?
Once the participants have completed the entire training, they will receive an OI Certificate of Completion. Also, the sponsoring union will receive an overall assessment of their participant/s based on observations from the OI Teaching Fellows facilitating the training.
Should you have questions, email OI Senior Trainer TJ Marsallo at [email protected] and/or us at [email protected]. We look forward to training your organizers to WIN at the August 10-12, 2021 OI Digital 3-Day Training!
